Your ELP test format

The test takes approximately 30-40 minutes and follows a structured format. It is normally conducted on a one-to-one basis between the applicant and examiner. The ICAO ELP test will be broken down into the following sections:

Section 1 - Listening

The listening assessment consists of three distinct parts.

PART 1:  ATIS
Listen to two authentic ATIS broadcasts.

PART 2: RADIOTELEPHONY COMMUNICATIONS
You will hear three RT exchanges between a pilot and a controller, following an aircraft through various phases of flight. These communications include both routine and non-routine situations.

PART 3: AVIATION-RELATED INCIDENT
Listen to a detailed account of an aviation-related incident narrated in plain English.

Section 2 - Speaking

The speaking component evaluates your communication abilities through four interactions.

PART 4: PERSONAL INTERVIEW
A conversation with your examiner about your aviation journey, training experiences, and career aspirations. This relaxed dialogue helps assess your ability to communicate naturally about aviation-related topics.

PART 5: VIDEO ANALYSIS
Watch a brief aviation-related video clip, then demonstrate your descriptive abilities. Your examiner will guide you through follow-up questions to explore the topic further.

PART 6: ROLE PLAY
Engage in realistic radiotelephony exchanges that reflect both routine and non-routine situations.

PART 7: INTERACTIVE DISCUSSION
Participate in an interactive discussion about current aviation topics, sharing your professional insights and reasoning. This collaborative dialogue assesses your ability to express and justify opinions within an aviation context.

Pending AESA approval

Our ICAO English Language Proficiency certification will be accepted by aviation authorities in these countries:
