The test takes approximately 30-40 minutes and follows a structured format. It is normally conducted on a one-to-one basis between the applicant and examiner. The ICAO ELP test will be broken down into the following sections:
The speaking component evaluates your communication abilities through four interactions.
PART 4: PERSONAL INTERVIEW
A conversation with your examiner about your aviation journey, training experiences, and career aspirations. This relaxed dialogue helps assess your ability to communicate naturally about aviation-related topics.
PART 5: VIDEO ANALYSIS
Watch a brief aviation-related video clip, then demonstrate your descriptive abilities. Your examiner will guide you through follow-up questions to explore the topic further.
PART 6: ROLE PLAY
Engage in realistic radiotelephony exchanges that reflect both routine and non-routine situations.
PART 7: INTERACTIVE DISCUSSION
Participate in an interactive discussion about current aviation topics, sharing your professional insights and reasoning. This collaborative dialogue assesses your ability to express and justify opinions within an aviation context.
Our ICAO English Language Proficiency certification will be accepted by aviation authorities in these countries:
Our test is designed for all aviation professionals, including fixed-wing pilots, helicopter pilots, and air traffic controllers. The format remains consistent whilst ensuring relevant content for each specialisation.
If you need to change your test date, simply email us at hello@av8tat.com, and we'll help you find a suitable alternative at no additional cost.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. We'll provide a refund minus a €25 administrative fee for cancellations made more than 24 hours before your scheduled test. Please note that cancellations within 24 hours of the test time are non-refundable. We always recommend rescheduling rather than cancelling when possible.
Before your test day, you will receive an email with detailed instructions about where to go and what to take. You'll need to bring a valid form of identification (either your passport or national identity card). Our testing centre will provide all other necessary materials for your assessment.
You can expect to receive your test results within 24 hours of completing your assessment. Your official certificate will follow within two days. If you've chosen our Premium Test option with a detailed feedback report, this will be sent to your inbox within seven days.
If you failed your ELP test, remember that this isn't the end of your aviation career! You can book another test after a one-month waiting period. We recommend exploring our TRAINING HUB courses to enhance your skills before retaking the test.
There are two options available to you. You can book another test with us after one month and try again. Alternatively, If you believe there's been an error in your assessment, you can submit an appeal by clicking this link: Appeal.
